What's Your Opinion
I'm sure you all read my preview on Crysis Warhead right? RIGHT!? Well if you didn't don't worry because now that I have played and completed the game I have a nice review here for you. MAXIMUM SCOREAGE!
In the original Crysis you played as Nomad, an American special forces commando sent to an "off the map" island between Korea and Japan. The mission starts out simple enough. You and your team have to extract a load of US citizens (scientists in this case) who were on the island doing some research when along came the North Korean Peoples Army who seized the island and claimed it as a part of North Korean territory, taking the scientists hostage in the process. As tensions between the US and North Korea escalate more and more, strange things begin to happen on the island. As the game plays out it turns out that the island is a burial site for an ancient alien ship that the US scientists had begun to excavate. The game then boils down to You vs North Korea vs Aliens.
That all remains pretty much the same for Warhead as it is set during the events of the first game. Warhead begins as you playing as Pyshco, the British ex SAS serviceman who is now part of Raptor team (the same team as Nomad) on the other side of the Island chasing down one of the alien "drones" that you see captured on-board the aircraft carrier at the end of the original Crysis. Anyway I don't want to ruin the plot for you so I shall leave it with the closing statement of AWESOME! Can't wait for Crysis 2 to carry it on.
Now onto the graphics. They are immense! If you have played Crysis then expect pretty much the same level of detail (in other words stupidly high if you run it max) but with much better optimisation. By that I mean it will run better than Crysis in regards to framerate, on older hardware (not too old), etc.
If graphics are not enough then what about the gameplay? Well Crysis was fun and lengthy in my eyes but people did complain about it's linear objectives and overuse of run - shoot - cloak - run gameplay. Well this time in Warhead most of those problems are gone. The game is sheer adrenaline fuelled carnage from beginning to end. The fire-fights are more intense, the vehicle sections are actually really fun and the pacing has been thought out a lot better. Oh and there's two new weapons. A very cool grenade launcher and a new type of duel wield able pistol. Like Robobcops!
Lastly, Crysis Warhead comes with multiplayer called Crysis Wars, which is really fun. Powerstrugle returns (plays like Battlefield, capturing base's etc for points) with all the awesomeness of building tanks etc for your team and upgrading your guns with the points you get from kills and capturing bases. New to Wars is a team and normal Deathmacth modes. All in all a nice package. Did I mention it has 21 maps?
So in closing, I thoroughly recommend this game to anyone able to run it. If you have a PC then this is the shooter for it this year.

Merc, tbh anyone can still PLAY the game even if they have an average PC. As long as it was made within the last 3 years you should be able to run Crysis in some form, whether low, medium or high. Yes, of course it is best to run it max and like you said not everyone can afford to do that. But that's why they are not Crysis's target market. Hardcore PC gamers who do upgrade their PC's are and believe me, there is still alot of them around. All I'm saying is that the game is a beast on high settings, which is true. Fair enough if you don't like the game, I know a few people who would agree with you. But then I also know other people who love the game and others still who just play it because they can. Me, well I wouldn't say it's one of the best games ever but it's definitely a very good, solid game that I will come back to from time to time.
